Poetry and Music Gathering are pleased to invite the Katy Creek Band to join us
for the 19th Annual Gathering to be held February 11-13, 2011 in
We have approximately 4,500 people who attend the Gathering and the Katy Creek Band has entertained a good number of them. The Band consists of Wes and Nancy Ruybal. They perform traditional western music as well as some of their original works. Their harmonies are excellent and their presentations are top-notch. They work well with their audiences and we heard nothing but positive comments on their performances.
Wes and Nancy work exceptionally well with other performers and they add a unique quality to our Gathering. We missed them last year, and are pleased to have them join us in 2011. The Gathering is very selective of the artists who participate. Most of them have been Featured Artists at other Gatherings. Artists cannot apply; they have to be recommended by one of our committee members or by one of our participating artists. Once they come to the Gathering, it is the audience reception and the artists’ presentations that give them the potential for a return visit. The Katy Creek Band has that special blend in their music that adds warmth and humor and hope. They are a great team and they continue to mature in their quality and professionalism. Wes and Nancy are a solid talent for our Gathering and for any other presentation.
When someone hears the phrase “Western Music”, they are most likely to envision a Silver Screen Moment with Gene Autry. When someone hears the phrase “Cowboy Music”, they envision campfires, guitars, wide night skies and a chuck wagon. Katy Creek transcends these perceptions. Their music brings you along as they ride a trail as rugged and twisting as the Cowboy life they lead, love and wish to preserve. After sharing an evening of music and poetry with Katy Creek, you come away with a new appreciation for the Cowboy life. From Cowboy romance to Murder and mayhem, they’ll sing you along the trail and carry you back in time.
Katy Creek, brings their mesmerizing storytelling abilities to the forefront on both of their albums, Autumn’s On Its Way and Wild Rose. The title tracks for both albums are two of my favorites. I am humming Wild Rose as I write this review, as a matter of fact. That is the best part of listening to a Katy Creek Album; days later, you find that you are whistling or humming a bit of a song, wondering where it came from and then smile, realizing that you heard it from Katy Creek

"Katy Creek is authentic. When Nancy sings, the audience is treated to a distinct, ethereal, authentic voice. This music speaks the truth and the beauty of the American West, in every song they perform and every line that they write; audiences tune into that authenticity and find themselves wonderfully entertained. Their tunes come from love and from experience. I thoroughly enjoy Autumn's On Its Way and Wild Rose and I'm delighted whenever I get to work with Katy Creek, or even when I just get the chance to sit and listen!"

Ralph and Tamara of Ralph's Backporch Radio gave this review;
I've heard the Texas breezes play in the tops of tall oak trees. I have heard the laughter of people enjoying a good song. I have heard a child at play. All these sounds make me smile and all these sounds are good, and now, right there amongst these wonderful sounds I have heard a band called Katy Creek make beautiful music for the heart and soul.
A Fresh new sound I find completely charming! Katy Creek's "Autumn's On Its Way " is a compelling album and Katy Creek, Outstanding!
